PELUM Ethiopia and PELUM Uganda have created strong partnership for the mutual exchange of participants from the two partners through the NOREC Exchange project.

The primary focus of the exchange is on fostering learning on food and seed security and sovereignty, facilitate participatory farmer-led research, and promote permaculture and Integrated Land Use and Design. The project also seeks to support urban farming, Agro-ecology markets and business development, improving governance, organisational functioning, and membership engagement.

The exchange project duration starts January 2024 and planned number of exchange visits. The length of each round of exchange is 8 months. The length of stay abroad (Uganda) for exchange is 6 month and follow up work in Ethiopia for two months.

While on the exchange program Participants will be introduced to training on cross cutting issues such as gender mainstreaming, culture, child protection during the first 10 days of the exchange program as they are on board. 

Therefore, PELUM Ethiopia seeks to recruit 6 successful applicants for the posts.

Qualifications and requirements

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of the following desirable qualifications and requirements:

  • At least a diploma in agriculture and natural resource management and any other related fields.
  • Be willing and able to travel extensively within and outside the country. Successful applicants will travel to Uganda for training for a period of Six month and after successfully completing their training, the applicants will return to Ethiopia and work at different project areas of the organization located in different regions for a period of two consecutive months.
  • Have at least two years practical experience with farmers and agro-pastoralists.
  • Having at least renewed passport for the year 2024 or more.
  • Be healthy and not more than 35 years old
  • Be able in writing and communicating skill of English language
  • Be a team player and builder and able to work for long hours including practical session with minimal supervision.
  • Willing to complete his six (6) months training in Uganda with a considerable pocket money.
  • Anyone affiliated with PELUM Ethiopian members can apply; we encourage female candidates.
  • We do not guarantee employment for the trainee after completing her/his training program.
